OBITUARIES
Our primary collection of obituaries is part of the PARKINSON PAPERS, and covers only 1927 to 1953. It was donated to Newark Public Library in 1956 by Ruth Parkinson upon the death of her husband, John W. Parkinson, and consists of 30 file drawers of envelopes full of actual clippings.
There is no master list of all names included. A reference librarian will be glad to search the files for you, if you cannot come to the library. If you are here during open hours of the Licking County Genealogical Society, you will find it easier to consult their obituary collection, which is much more complete and current to the present.
In addition, although we cannot routinely clip obituaries, we do maintain clippings on prominent persons in the county, taken from area newspapers. These are filed under the heading "Biography." See Local History VERTICAL FILES.
We require your signature and ID to use this material in the library
