CEMETERY RECORDS
The library has records of all known township cemeteries in Licking County, prepared by the Johnstown Genealogy Society in 1970. They are in separate booklets by township, with a combined index for all townships.
The present townships in Licking County are Bennington, Bowling Green, Burlington, Eden, Etna, Fallsburg, Franklin, Granville, Hanover, Harrison, Hartford, Hopewell, Jersey, Liberty, Licking, Lima, Madison, Mary Ann, McKean, Monroe, Newark, Newton, Perry, St. Albans, Union, Washington. Many of these were formed out of others in the early history of Licking County. You may need to check the dates of township organization.
Not included in the set above is a three volume set of indexed records for the Cedar Hill Cemetery, which is the largest cemetery in the Newark area. Their dates of coverage is shown below:
Volume 1:December 16, 1850 to August 27, 1909.
Volume 2: August 27, 1909 to May 11, 1946
Volume 3: May 13, 1946 to February 24,1971
