To kick off this month's featured location, the Bookmobile, we have an introduction from Brock Hutchison, Head of Mobile Services. Brock grew up in Carrollton, Ohio, but has resided in Licking County with his wife and dog for five years. He is a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and anything Cleveland. Brock completed his undergraduate studies at Muskingum University in History and went on to obtain a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University.
Brock has worked in various departments of the library for five years and has been the Head of Outreach Services for three years. Before working for the Licking County Library, Brock worked for the Carroll County District Library and the Muskingum University Library.
“When I started my library career, I never thought I would have to have a CDL or worry about oil changes on a commercial vehicle, but I have truly found my home on the bookmobile.” Brock obtained a Commerical Drivers License, which is required to drive the bookmobile, and enjoys visiting the many schools, preschools, retirement villages and communities all over Licking County. “I always tell people that whatever the opposite of a thankless job is, that is what it’s like working on the bookmobile. Adults and children alike are always so happy to see the bookmobile, and it’s so much fun to find that perfect book for our students on the bookmobile.”
The bookmobile travels all over Licking County visiting schools, preschools, villages and communities. If you see the bookmobile out and about, be sure to stop on and check out a book, movie, video game or magazine.
